Family holidays like Mother's Day and Father's Day are rarely celebrated in Beetle Bailey. But in many ways, the gang at Camp Swampy are like a family and Sarge often acts like an over-protective mother.

In the episode above from 2014, Sarge is on the phone with Beetle's mother, Ma Bailey. This is what she looks like.

This is a good example of how Sarge makes Beetle feel guilty for not being more attentive to his real mother.

In the Sunday page below from 2016, the roles are reversed as Beetle nags Sarge about tracking mud on his freshly mopped floor.

Sarge is thinking about his mother in the last panel. We don't know what she looks like.

We hope all of our readers have a happy Mother's Day.
