In the Sunday page above, from Sept. 25, 1988, Hi uses the familiar line, "when I was your age" to start a typical parental lecture. Chip interupts and recites his version of his father's tall tales about growing up in hard times.

It's fun to imagine the backstory of characters who are frozen in time. We have done this many times over the years.

Here is a classic example from 1962.

More recently, we did this episode in which Hi and Chip take a trip down memory lane and observe how much things have changed.
