What a wonderful experience it was working with these two incredibly talented cartoonists on this special cartoon illustration to promote the upcoming SEC-NCS Meeting in Roanoke where Marcus Hamilton, Gary Brookins and I are the featured speakers. King Features Cartoonists Headline NCS Roanoke, Va., Event On Oct. 8 King Features cartoonists Marcus Hamilton (Dennis The Menace dailies), Gary Brookins (Shoe, Pluggers) and John Rose (Barney Google and Snuffy Smith) will be the featured speakers for the Southeast Chapter of the National Cartoonists Society’s annual Fall Meeting in Roanoke, Va., on Saturday, October 8th. Each cartoonist will speak about his career as a cartoonist and show samples of his work. The day-long event will take place at the Sheraton Roanoke Hotel and Conference Center at 2801 Hershberger Rd. NW in Roanoke. The talks are free and open to the public and will take place in the theater room of the Sheraton. The three cartoonists collaborated on this special piece of artwork (shown above) which was used to promote the event. The original art, along with pieces created by other Southeast Chapter members, will be auctioned off Saturday in a charity auction at the Sheraton to benefit the NCS Milt Gross Fund charity (for cartoonists in need of financial assistance) and Carilion Children’s Hospital in Roanoke.
