Alex Raymond

About

This strip features the adventures of Remington “Rip” Kirby, a military-trained private investigator. Genteel and bookish in appearance, the strip’s namesake is a lover of classical music, chess and fine brandy. However, looks can be deceiving because Rip Kirby, despite his eyeglasses and pipe, is more than capable of defending himself against bad guys and cunning temptresses. such as the seductive Pagan Lee. Rip makes his home in a ritzy apartment in New York City, but his adventures take him all around the world, where he is often accompanied by his one true love, fashion model Honey Dorian, and his faithful manservant, reformed burglar Desmond.

Rip Kirby was written and drawn by legendary comic-strip artist Alex Raymond until his untimely death in 1956. From that point forward, Fred Dickenson continued to write the strip and illustrator John Prentice drew it. The strip ended its syndication run in 1999.

Dailies from 1947 - 1948.
